THE MEN ALSO DESERVE THE BEST…
For quite some time, cosmetic surgery and aesthetic medicine have been thought of as a female-oriented area – and while this may still be true to an extent, the percentages of male patients desiring cosmetic surgery now keeps pace with the increased numbers of procedures performed each year.
But unlike many women who want treatments that help them look as young as possible men typically want a look that is rested, relaxed, and comfortable.
Think cosmetic surgery is just for women? Think again…Just like using male products and creams, or waxing your body hair, cosmetic treatments have become a completely acceptable part of a modern healthy lifestyle of many men. It is a fact that the 21st century gentlemen are not against some rejuvenation treatments to look their absolute best and there is nothing wrong with that!
The aesthetic goal is the same with men as it is with women: to be able to look into the mirror and feel good about the reflection staring back at you, no matter your age. The procedures are just as effective and safe on males as they are on females. The only difference is in understanding the male skin anatomy.
Working in tough jobs and burning the candle at both ends can in time make us look more tired and unhealthy. For example, a lot of men tell us that the frown lines between their eyes have become a permanent feature, and even though they are not, people often tell them that they look permanently stressed or stern.
Spoil the men in your life and treat them to some rejuvenation procedures in the comfort of our rooms. Whether you want your man to look healthier, more relaxed or simply more youthful, we have many techniques specifically tailored for him.
So you would like to know: What treatments do we offer the men in your life? Well there is a wide array of aesthetic procedures to choose from but this month we decided to focus on the most popular and satisfying ones: Botox and Dermal fillers!
BOTOX
At Medi-Sculpt, we are seeing more and more men undergo Botulinum Toxin and dermal fillers injections. Many men love chemical peels too.
When Botox or dermal fillers, or really any variety of cosmetic surgery procedures, are brought up, the assumption is that the person contemplating getting such a procedure is a woman. That is simply the association most will automatically make, and the numbers generally support that notion.
Male treatments have now become the accepted and the norm. Men are looking for a self-esteem booster just as women are. The urge to look younger and more attractive is not female specific quality. With a competitive work force and the need to stay ahead, cosmetic procedures are just one added tool that men are now using.
Botox and dermal fillers are gaining popularity amongst men. Did you know that Botox has even been dubbed with a nickname: Bro-tox! The typical male patient may have noticed an increase in facial lines or wrinkles himself or is increasingly asked if he is tired or angry.
Unlike dermal fillers, which treat deep wrinkles, Botulinum toxin can be used to treat fine lines and wrinkles on the face, especially the brow area and the “crow’s feet” around the eyes. But not only: Botox may also be used to treat numerous areas including:
- Smokers lines
- Crow’s feet
- Nasal reshaping
- Excessive sweating
- Migraines
Also, don’t worry! Botox is not permanent: Each Botox treatment lasts on average 4 months and it takes about 15 minutes to complete the procedure
Interesting fact
Did you know that Men would require more Botox units than women?
This is because the male skin is thicker, and often, due to shaving, more resistant to aesthetic alteration.
Gift Idea!
Frequently it is the special lady in a man’s life that gets him to the MediSculpt office. Gift cards are an increasingly popular means for a woman to encourage him to try Botox though many men make that decision on their own.
DERMAL FILLERS
What about Dermal Fillers for the Gentlemen?
It’s not just women that see the signs of aging in their faces and don’t like it. Men, while they might not be as open about it, see the wrinkles and folds getting more prominent in their own faces as they age, too.
Dermal fillers, like Botox, will require slightly more product during the treatment session for a man, but will still offer the same great results with minimal downtime.
The nasolabial folds, in particular, which is the crease that runs from the lower nose to the corner of the mouth, frequently deepens and becomes more prominent with age and is a popular area for dermal filler among male patients.
What we love most about dermal fillers is how versatile they are. They are frequently used in our male patients to smooth away facial lines and wrinkles, and shape facial contours, such as cheeks and chin, and revitalise the skin. Say yes to looking seriously handsome this summer!
The most difficult element for a man is to openly discuss the areas they are most concerned with. Perhaps it’s a little tougher for males to decide they want to do something as un-macho as getting Botox or dermal fillers, but more and more South African men are making that choice.
Men want to look their best too. There are numerous options that vary by cost, results and recovery time. Before deciding, dig into the options. Chat to Dr Reddy about what the best treatment would be for you.
