Who is the Ideal Candidate?
Individuals with any skin type can undergo this procedure, but for darker-skinned individuals there is the possible risk of hyperpigmentation.
What Can I Expect?
The treatment achieves significant improvements in the reduction of acne scars, usually within two to three sessions.
Rolling acne scars respond particularly well to this technique.
The procedure will cause bruising which fades within seven days.
When will I see an improvement?
To produce significant improvements to acne scars, two to three subcision treatment sessions are required.
What is the recovery time?
Patients are able to return to their normal activity on the same day. Bruising is possible, especially if patients have been taking a blood-thinning medication such as Aspirin.
Is it painful?
The procedure is not painful as we apply local anaesthesia to the treated area. The procedure cannot be performed otherwise.
How long does the procedure take?
The procedure takes no longer than 30 minutes, and has minimum discomfort associated with it.
What is the cost of the procedure?
Expect to pay R5 500 per session. For optimal results, 3 sessions are required.
